Golf in The Netherlands

There are 279 golf clubs in the Netherlands. Some of the best golf courses in The Netherlands include The Noordwijkse, Utrechtse Golfclub 'de Pan', Hilversumsche Golf Club, Kennemer Golf & Country Club and Royal Haagsche Golf & Country Club. There are also many well-designed new golf courses in The Netherlands, such as Stippelberg in Bakel, The Dutch in Spijk, Bernardus near Den Bosch, De Swinkelsche in Someren and The International near Schiphol Airport. Golf courses in the Netherlands are known for their polder courses. These golf courses are often very flat and have a lot of water. The best golf courses in the Netherlands are known for their tremendous quality, some of them even offer a true links experience, like the 9-hole golf course the Domburgsche. It is almost impossible to play golf in the Netherlands without a valid golf certificate. If foreigners want to play golf in the Netherlands it is important that they can prove that they are members of a certain golf club. This makes it easier to be admitted and they often will receive an attractive discount on their green fees, even on some of the best golf courses in The Netherlands. Although the Netherlands is not really a common golf destination, some golf clubs in the Netherlands have a very high-quality golf hotel, like Golf & Country Club Lauswolt, The Duke, Golfbaan Kasteel Engelenburg and Golfresort De Purmer. The Netherlands has one famous golf tournament: The KLM Open, a European Tour event. This event has been played previously at The Dutch in Spijk. The International near Schiphol will be the host of the 2019 edition, and Bernardus near Den Bosch will be the host the three years after that. Famous Dutch Golfer Joost Luiten has won the KLM Open two times.
